Bristol City Council has recently released a number of key documents for public consultation relating to allotments. BCC has requested input from all allotment holders in the city and we would encourage HwDAA tenants to express their views on the below items.
Proposed Amended Tenancy Agreement, Rules and Rents/charges
As an allotment association, the governance of HwDAA is independent of BCC, although we do rent our land from BCC. The proposed amendments to BCCs tenancy agreement, rules and the considerable charges shall not apply to HwDAA. The BCC proposed “new rules” document does add additional clarity around policies, codes of conduct and prohibitions compared to previous documents and the HwDAA committee will review any adaptions to our own rules that may similarly help to add clarity for tenants. You will note the considerable increase in rents and chargeable items in the document. It is only through our volunteers we can continue to keep our own rents low and not charge for other services. Please keep an out for more information on regular work parties in the new year to support site reps and maintenance.

Bristol Parks and Green Spaces Strategy (Inc Allotments and Food Growing Strategy)
This overarching strategy for all city green space includes the Allotments and Food Growing Strategy (2024-2039) which outlines BCCs vision and plan for allotments and principles for their usage and governance. This document will also help to guide HwDAAs own strategy and planning as we continue to build on our growing community projects and contribution to the wider city’s food and growing landscape.
